The short version

Unresolved is local-first. That means:

  • Your tasks never leave your phone. No server. No backup. No sync.
  • No account system. You never sign in. We have no way to identify you.
  • We don't know what's on your list. Task content never reaches us.

There's no analytics in the app. We don't know how many tasks you have, whether you hit the ceiling, or whether you opened it today. The only things that leave your phone are the ones below, and they're all about the purchase and the app itself, never your list.

What the app does use:

  • Apple — for App Store delivery, the Pro purchase, and crash reports if you have sharing with developers turned on in iOS settings
  • RevenueCat — to check whether the one-time Pro purchase has been made on this device, and to restore it on a new one. It sees an anonymous ID and the purchase, nothing about your tasks

Neither sees your task content. Reminders, if you turn them on, are scheduled on the phone itself and never go through a server.

Email

If you email us, we have your address and whatever you wrote, and we use them to reply. If you ask to hear when the app is in the App Store, that's what we'll write to you about, by hand, and if you'd rather not hear from us again, say so and we won't. There's no mailing list and no third-party email service. The app itself never asks for an email address.

How to delete everything

Uninstall the app.

The full policy

Effective September 5, 2026

Who we are

Unresolved is published by Velonox Labs, a registered trade name of CG Breakdown Studios Inc., a corporation based in British Columbia, Canada (“we,” “us,” “our”). This privacy policy is a binding agreement between us and you. It relates to our mobile application, Unresolved (the “app”), and to email you send us, including from the unresolved.app website.

If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not download, register with, or use this app. By downloading, registering with, or using this app, you indicate that you understand, accept, and consent to the practices described in this privacy policy and, in particular, that you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described here. This policy may change from time to time. You agree to, accept, and consent to any changes by continuing to use, access, download, or install the app after those changes are made. Please check the policy periodically for updates.

This policy explains what information the app handles, what stays on your device, what leaves it, and what rights you have. We handle personal information in accordance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

The short version: your tasks never leave your phone. The app has no analytics and no accounts. The little that does leave your device is about the Pro purchase, and this policy tells you exactly what.

Your tasks stay on your device

Unresolved is local-first. Your tasks — their titles, their age, whether you completed or closed them — are stored in a database on your device and nowhere else. There is no account, no cloud backup, and no sync. We cannot read your tasks. We have no server that receives them. If you delete the app, your task data is gone, including from our perspective, because we never had it.

Accountability and Privacy Officer

CG Breakdown Studios Inc., operating as Velonox Labs, is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. We have designated a Privacy Officer who is responsible for our compliance with this policy and with PIPA, and who is the contact for privacy questions, access requests, and complaints. You can reach the Privacy Officer at info@unresolved.app.

What we collect

We collect a very limited amount of information through the following service providers, and by email if you write to us. None of it includes the content of your tasks. The personal information we collect from you, the parties to whom we disclose it, the uses we make of it, and the purposes for which it is collected, used, and disclosed are set out below and elsewhere in this policy.

  • Purchases (RevenueCat and Apple). If you buy the one-time Pro unlock, your payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID credentials. RevenueCat, our purchase-verification provider, receives the purchase receipt, the fact that Pro has been unlocked, and an anonymous app-level identifier so the app can raise your task ceiling and restore the purchase on a new device. We receive this information from RevenueCat and may disclose it to RevenueCat (which may refer to a number of entities). Apple’s handling of your purchase is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
  • Crash reports (Apple). If the app crashes and you have chosen in your iOS settings to share diagnostics with developers, Apple may provide us with a crash report: the error details, device model, operating system version, and app version. The app contains no third-party crash-reporting software. We use these reports to find and fix bugs.
  • Email. If you contact us at info@unresolved.app — including from the unresolved.app website to ask to be told when the app is in the App Store — we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us, including any personal information you share. We use it to respond to you, address the content of your communication, keep a record, and, if you asked, to write to you about the app’s availability. We do this by hand; there is no mailing list and no third-party email service. If you tell us you would rather not hear from us, we stop. The app itself never asks for an email address.
  • Personal information that you provide to us. If you provide any other personal information directly to us, we collect it and may use and disclose it to address your correspondence, for the reasons for which you provided it, or for any other purpose with your consent.

That is the complete list. The app contains no analytics software: we do not know how many tasks you have, whether you have reached the ceiling, or how often you open it. Reminders, if you turn them on, are scheduled on your device and do not pass through any server. We do not otherwise collect your name, contacts, location, photos, advertising identifiers, or browsing activity. We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

You consent to the foregoing collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information by us and by any of the third parties listed above, and to the governance of the third parties’ collection, use, and disclosure by their own privacy policies.

Why we collect it

PIPA requires us to collect personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate. Our purposes for the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information are: operating the app’s Pro unlock and restoring it when you ask; fixing crashes and bugs; providing you with the app and operating, improving, or supporting it; responding to and addressing your communications to us (including telling you when the app is available, if you asked) and keeping a record of them; carrying out our obligations and enforcing our rights in any contracts with you (including for billing and collection or to comply with legal requirements); fulfilling the purposes for which you provided it; and any other purpose with your consent. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond those stated here or other purposes with your consent.

Consent

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the app, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this policy. If we ever want to use your personal information for a new purpose, we will tell you and obtain consent first.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by deleting the app. Withdrawal requests can also be sent to the Privacy Officer at the address above. Note that purchase records are necessary for us to honour the Pro unlock and meet legal obligations, and withdrawing consent for them may mean the unlock cannot be restored for you. If you have emailed us and no longer want to hear from us, tell us and we will stop.

Where your information is stored

Our service provider RevenueCat stores and processes data on servers located in the United States or other countries, and our email is hosted by Google Workspace, which may also store it outside Canada. Apple processes purchase and crash information under its own policy. This means the limited data described above is transferred outside of Canada and may be accessible to authorities in the jurisdiction where it is stored, under that jurisdiction’s laws. Each provider is contractually bound to protect the data it processes on our behalf, and their collection, use, and disclosure of any of your information is governed by their own privacy policies: RevenueCat at revenuecat.com/privacy and Google at policies.google.com/privacy.

Your task data is stored only on your device — in Canada, the United States, or wherever your phone happens to be.

How long we keep it

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, after which it is deleted or rendered anonymous. Crash reports shared with us by Apple are kept only as long as needed to investigate and fix the issue. Purchase records are retained for as long as needed to honour the Pro unlock and as long as required for accounting and legal obligations. Emails are retained as long as needed to resolve your inquiry, to keep a record of the correspondence, and, if you asked to hear about the app’s availability, until we have told you or you ask us to stop. Where we use personal information to make a decision that directly affects you, we retain it for at least one year, as PIPA requires, so you have a reasonable opportunity to request access to it.

How we protect it

We use reasonable security arrangements appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encryption in transit for all data sent to our service providers, access restricted to those who need it, and the use of anonymous identifiers rather than directly identifying information wherever possible. The most sensitive information the app handles — your tasks — is protected by the strongest measure available: it never leaves your device.

BC’s private-sector privacy law does not currently require breach notification, but as a matter of policy, if a privacy breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the appropriate privacy regulator without unreasonable delay.

Your rights

Under PIPA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and learn how it has been used and disclosed.
  • Correct personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Withdraw consent to collection and use, subject to legal and contractual limits.
  • Complain about how we handle your personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, contact the Privacy Officer at info@unresolved.app. We will respond within 30 days.

One honest caveat: because Unresolved has no accounts and uses anonymous identifiers, we usually cannot connect purchase or crash data to you as an individual. If you make an access request, we may be unable to locate data attributable to you specifically — not because we are withholding it, but because we deliberately built the app so that the connection does not exist. The exception is email you have sent us, which we can find and delete on request.

Children

Unresolved is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact the Privacy Officer and we will delete it.

Questions and complaints

Questions, access requests, correction requests, and complaints about this policy or our handling of personal information should be directed to the Privacy Officer, Velonox Labs (CG Breakdown Studios Inc.), at info@unresolved.app. We will investigate and respond to all complaints.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia: PO Box 9038, Stn. Prov. Govt., Victoria, BC V8W 9A4; phone 250-387-5629, toll-free in BC 1-800-663-7867; oipc.bc.ca. For matters under federal jurisdiction, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated version at this address with a revised date. Material changes — anything that expands what we collect or how we use it — will be flagged in the app before they take effect. By continuing to use the app, or by downloading or installing it, you agree to be bound by the version of the policy in effect.
